Spring Cleaning

As of last night, my job ended and I’m back on funemployment! Day one of funemployment is always celebrated the same way, with a massive cleaning day as I try to jam all my office supplies into my tiny apartment.

As you know, I’ve been reading The Happiness Project, and one of her January changes is to clean out her closets and give away clothes she never wears. As I am trying to follow her example, I also went on a clothes purging mission.

Can you tell it was successful?

With all my new found closet room, I’ve made my home office in my closet. It sounds funny, but it’s genius. Now when I want to escape my work all I have to do is close the closet door. As soon as it’s all properly put away, there will be photos posted. I’ve gotta get back to sorting, but enjoy this beautiful day!

Morning Walks

“An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.” – Henry David Thoreau

I’m normally not one to listen to quotes by dead people… but I’ve been trying to pull myself out of this rut, and the best way is to take control, right? I’m only 25 pages into The Happiness Project, but I’m trying to learn from it. I’m doing a little self-work, if you will. I’ve decided to start having tea in the afternoon instead of coffee. And I’m really pushing myself to do my morning walks. I work long hours, but nothing starts my day off better than a morning loop around my favorite walking neighborhood. I took these photos as the sun rose on my walk. I breathe in the positivity and it has me starting work with a smile on my face. I highly recommend it.

I’ve also been starting to make summer plans for updating you, my precious blog. Expect some good/big changes in the summer time.

Sunday Pep Talk

Are you enjoying this beautiful weekend? Just a reminder about CicLAvia. It just started about 3 seconds ago and it happening until 3pm. Take a look at the map (in the link) and get there!

I was hoping to be able to do it, but instead I’m about to cross something off my resolution list: Yoga. I told myself I had to take at least 1 Yoga class in 2012, and I’m about to do that at a free class in Sherman Oaks at Corepower Yoga. Hopefully I love it and it’ll become one of my new hobbies, and even if I end up hating it at least I was open to it and gave it a try. I’m bad with group exercises classes, so hopefully this will go better than I’m anticipating.

I also shared the photo above because, I’m not sure if you can tell, but I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately. I’m lacking drive, energy, and motivation. It is what it is, and I’m working hard to get out of it. Only you can really pull yourself out. I bought the book above, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, because it was recommended to me by a friend. It sounds quite similar to my 2011 year, and I figure anything to help motivate me out of this slump would be good. That, and my Real Simple (May) arrived 🙂 I’ll let you know how they both turn out.

I’m off to a pre-yoga walk, then yoga, then the gym for a 5k, then collapsing into my bed.
