Weekend Guide Nov 4 + 5 + 6

It’s that time of the week.. Friday, Friday, Friday! Any plans for the weekend? Tell me what I should be doing?!! I had all these outdoor plans but the forecast is rainy for Los Angeles, so Im reworking my weekend as we speak. Here’s what I know about so far:

FRIDAY Nov. 4th

At 7pm tonight, Skylight Books is welcoming Dave Scott Miller for the release of his new book Iron City.¬†Should be a good time and HERE is more info. If you’re sick of reading all week and more into the music scene, The Echoplex is featuring Afterhours with guest Greg Dulli and Majakovich as the opening act, starting tonight at 8:30p and tickets are free, but be sure to RSVP HERE!

SATURDAY Nov. 5th

The Comikaze Expo is LA’s ComicCon and it’s happening this weekend in LA! Thrillist had a deal for $15 you get a VIP pass and can skip the line. Stan Lee is supposed to be in attendance as well as Elvira, Ernest Borgnine and many graphic novelists. Check out ticket options HERE. Comicbook fans should visit my friend Martin’s website,¬†Fanboy Headquarters, for all their comic needs.

The LA Opera is doing a free behind the scenes event this weekend too from 9:30a-5p. Some events require advance reservations, but everything is free and should be fun for the whole family. Find more info HERE. If the weather stays rainy, I would visit this event and then jump across the street to the MOCA to see their Under The Big Black Sun exhibit about California art from 1974-81.

SUNDAY Nov 6th

REMINDER** Daylight Savings is this weekend, so remember to gain an hour and set your clocks back!

The Hammer Museum, Now Dig This! Exhibit

The Hammer Museum is offering free Sundays from now until January 8th so you have no excuse not to go. They currently have the exhibit “Now Dig This! Art and Black Los Angeles 1960-80” and it’s worth a look. Learn more about this exhibit HERE.

826LA has two events happening on Sunday. The first I’ve talked about before, the series of Nerdist Author Panels continues at Meltdown Comics this Sunday with Hart Hanson (Bones), Sarah Goldfinger (Grimm) and Jose Molina (Terra Nova). Tickets are $15 and you can get them HERE. At 7pm on Sunday 826LA is also sponsoring “Sanity is for Suckers: One Act Plays for the Out of Touch” at ArtWorks Theatre & Studio on Santa Monica (get tickets HERE).
