You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes 7/8/13

I hit up the Troubadour this past Monday to see Pete Holmes’ live podcast taping of “You Made It Weird”. This is all great practice for his up and coming show following Conan on TBS, The Midnight Show with Pete Holmes, where he interviews celebrities.

I’m excited to share these photos with you, but I’m going to leave off the show jokes/details so you check out the podcast when it airs 😉

This was my first time checking out the Troubadour, which is normally a music venue. Parking was tricky (I found street parking, but was technically not in West Hollywood).

Pete2

My friends and I had a decent spot in line, so we were able to snag seating on the first level (they brought in folding chairs for the show). Pete Holmes came out to introduce the podcast.

First he brought out his sidekick, Chris Thayer, who I unfortunately didn’t have a great view of. He’s a comedian who often tours with Pete.

Pete5

The first guest was the one I was most excited about seeing, John Mulaney (SNL). He was recently picked as the #1 sexiest comedian and I must agree he’s easy on the eyes. He recently got engaged and we get to hear the funny stories about buying the ring and how they got engagement. We also heard some potential exciting news about his pilot/tv show (you’ll have to check the podcast to hear the details!).

Pete6

Up next was Jason Mantzoukas (The League) where I learned that he wears the same outfit every day. There’s even a twitter account for it.

Pete7

Sarah Silverman (Sarah Silverman Show, duh) came out next and got an awesome shot of a woman sitting front row who was napping… repeatedly.

Pete8

This was a VERY large show (lots of guests) so the stage was filling up as Kurt Braunohler (Bunk) took the stage. We got to hear a ‘shrooms story. He’s got a new cd out folks: How Do I Land?

After Kurt, Rob Huebel (Children’s Hospital) came out. He talked a lot about his family and with so many comedians on stage, every one chimed in which was fun.

Pete11

Last on the filled stage was Anthony Jeselnik. Season 2 of his show (the Jeselnik Offensive) airs Tuesdays at 10:30 on Comedy Central.

What a packed stage! So many headlining comedians in one place! Be sure to check out the podcast when it airs HERE at Earwolf and you can subscribe FREE on itunes HERE.

Weekend Guide October 28 + 29

Once again, it’s fail-city over here. The weekend guide is by far the most time consuming to work on, and often I dont find out about the best events until the day of, so I can’t write them in advance. With my now crazy work schedule, it’s just going to have to be what it is. Apologies, as you are first in my heart. Let’s start on Saturday:

Tonight I’ve got 3 (although there certainly are 100’s more) Halloween events to check out. Chinatown is having a Zombie Art Walk from 6-10pm. One Eyed Gypsy is having a costume party. And the Hollywood Forever cemetery is hosting a Dia De Los Muertos celebration. It’ll be legit.

If youre not in the spirit and sick of halloween stuff, head over to UCB for the Who Charted (podcast) live taping of their 100th episode with special guests Paul F. Tompkins, Steve Agee, and Jason Woliner. It says tickets are sold out, but UCB is great about letting people in off their waiting list, so come down before the show and get your name on the list!

If you’re into animation, check out The Platform International Animation Festival at Redcat. Or why not see Bad Apples at the Atwater Village Theater? Or hop on the orange line and head to Pierce College where they are having a Halloween Harvest Festival?
