I’m Bringing Spring Back

NewHaven

You heard me right- I’m bringing Spring back (imagine those lyrics to Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back”). I’m back from my week away in Los Angeles! And while I was out there enjoying the sun, good company, and vitamin d, I decided to bring a little bit of warmth back to Connecticut with me! I had such a fun week exercising, and being out in the sun but I’m SO excited to experience Spring in New Haven. When I left for LA I was scrapping snow off my car and right now I’m back from the trip seeing 50 degree temps! IT’S HERE!!!

I had this weekend to (try) to get back on the time zone, do laundry and catchup after being away. It was rainy on Saturday (you heard me right, RAIN not SNOW!) which was perfect for errands and seeing What We Do In The Shadows (hilarious!). The film is by the Flight of the Concord guys and has the same comedic timing. Check out the trailer below:

On Sunday it was the perfect time to make spring official: buy plants and flowers for the house! Since I moved in I’ve been needing plants as I feel like plants make a house feel cozy and warm, but given the winter temps I’ve been waiting for spring to officially fill the house with life.

Plants

Above you can see I went a little nuts with it (and I bought more not pictured) but as I started putting it all together it really made a difference in each room. I’ll have to share some “after” photos with you in the next week.

Next I want to share with you my tiny adorable balcony. Since I moved in it’s basically been covered in leaves, dirt and snow. This past weekend I swept it out and took inventory of what needs to go, and what needs to be added.

Above I hope to add a plant stand, outdoor rug, side table (as the one in the photo above is broken) and a loge chair. I want to make this a nice place to sit outside, read and drink coffee.

The other side of the balcony (above) is the perfect size for two chairs and a mini table, perfect for dinner on the balcony. I’ve even already purchased a citronella candle as I day dream about those warm summer nights on the balcony. Im considering fixing up the existing table above, but it’s very fragile and might not be worth the effort.

On Sunday, after my big plant purchase and balcony cleaning, I met up with good friends and walked over to Edgerton Park in New Haven. They have a great green house with a variety of tropical plants and even plants for sale at great prices. The money goes to support the greenhouse which is teaching adults with special needs to care for plants. It’s a great place to visit and the staff was very knowledgeable (and I imagine it’s volunteer based which means you get plant/community lovers). It was a great afternoon field trip and I hope to go back in April when the snow is gone and really explore the fields.
