Weekend Guide April 6 + 7 + 8

Easter Weekend! Time for the Weekend Guide! Are you ready for a weekend of fun? Assuming you’re not getting out of town for the long weekend, there’s some fun stuff going on in town you should check out. Let’s get to it!

FRIDAY April 6th:

If you have today off, why not check out the Echo Park Farmers Market from 3-7p.

From 7-10 tonight I will be at Gallery 1988 on Melrose for the opening exhibit of Mike Mitchell’s “Just Like Us” exhibit.

Friend Gallery 1988 on facebook to learn more about Mike’s artwork and come visit the exhibit tonight.

While you’re on Melrose, why not mosey down to Pour Vous, a hip new bar that just opened that is just over a mile away. It’s upscale and classy, so dress to impress. They just opened tonight (I think), so it’s be shiny and new.

SATURDAY April 7th:

On Saturday Bob Odenkirk (Mr.Show) is hosting the Amoeba Music Auction to support 826LA. It’s happening at 4pm in Hollywood. It’s be hilarious and charitable. Feel awesome and go to this event.

Later that day you should head downtown and visit the Moca Geffen to see Cai Guo-Qiang’s opening of Sky Ladder from 7-10p.

The Sunset Beer Company is hosting the Bughouse Design Art and Beer Opening from 6-9. Check out art and try some rare brews. RSVP HERE!

This is a tad pricey at $40 a ticket, but this Saturday is the 4th Annual Beer Festival at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. There will be food trucks and music and of course, beer. Check out the event map:

Check out their website to see an awesome video advertisement. Unfortunately it wont let me post it on this page, but check it out HERE to see what you’re in for.

SUNDAY April 8th:

I mentioned the opening above, but on Sunday at 3pm, Jeffrey Deitch (Director of the Moca Geffen) is interviewing Cai Guo-Qiang in a discussion about his new exhibit opening this weekend at the museum and his use of gun powder in art.

The Getty has a Herb Ritts exhibit happening in the West Pavilion right now. Herb Ritts photography is all about L.A. Style. Check out the link to this exhibit.

I don’t have too much else going on this weekend, but seeing as it’s Easter on Sunday I figure I should list some awesome brunch spots that you will love:

Cafe Stella (Silver Lake)
Sweetsalt (Toluca Lake)
BLD (Near the Grove)
Aroma Cafe (Studio City)
Figaro (Los Feliz)
Little Doms (Los Feliz)
Bottega Louie (Downtown)
