Head downtown on Saturday July 13th in the evening (6-9p) to learn about animals and stargaze at a Campfire Event at LA’s Historic Park. Doesn’t that sound fun? Bring blankets to layout and watch the stars with experts telling you about the constellations.

Maybe afterward head further into downtown to check out a free concert in Pershing Square Downtown Stage 2013. The Psychedelic Furs and Badwater are playing from 8-10pm. Free with lawn seating.

If the Psychedelic Furs aren’t your cup of tea, hit up the Getty’s Saturday’s Off The 405  from 6-9pm on Saturday for a free concert by Pickwick in the Getty courtyard. It’s free and no reservations are required, but I recommend carpooling and getting there early since it can get packed.

On Sunday July 14th, check out Unique LA downtown. It costs $10 to enter, but a portion of the money goes to the 826LA charity. This price includes unlimited entry for both Saturday and Sunday, free cocktails, a free photo booth, and food trucks.

You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes 7/8/13

I hit up the Troubadour this past Monday to see Pete Holmes’ live podcast taping of “You Made It Weird”. This is all great practice for his up and coming show following Conan on TBS, The Midnight Show with Pete Holmes, where he interviews celebrities.

I’m excited to share these photos with you, but I’m going to leave off the show jokes/details so you check out the podcast when it airs 😉

Pete1

This was my first time checking out the Troubadour, which is normally a music venue. Parking was tricky (I found street parking, but was technically not in West Hollywood).

Pete2

My friends and I had a decent spot in line, so we were able to snag seating on the first level (they brought in folding chairs for the show). Pete Holmes came out to introduce the podcast.

Pete3

Pete4

First he brought out his sidekick, Chris Thayer, who I unfortunately didn’t have a great view of. He’s a comedian who often tours with Pete.

Pete5

The first guest was the one I was most excited about seeing, John Mulaney (SNL). He was recently picked as the #1 sexiest comedian and I must agree he’s easy on the eyes. He recently got engaged and we get to hear the funny stories about buying the ring and how they got engagement. We also heard some potential exciting news about his pilot/tv show (you’ll have to check the podcast to hear the details!).

Pete6

Up next was Jason Mantzoukas (The League) where I learned that he wears the same outfit every day. There’s even a twitter account for it.

Pete7

Sarah Silverman (Sarah Silverman Show, duh) came out next and got an awesome shot of a woman sitting front row who was napping… repeatedly.

Pete8

This was a VERY large show (lots of guests) so the stage was filling up as Kurt Braunohler (Bunk) took the stage. We got to hear a ‘shrooms story. He’s got a new cd out folks: How Do I Land?

Pete9

Pete10

After Kurt, Rob Huebel (Children’s Hospital) came out. He talked a lot about his family and with so many comedians on stage, every one chimed in which was fun.

Pete11

Last on the filled stage was Anthony Jeselnik. Season 2 of his show (the Jeselnik Offensive) airs Tuesdays at 10:30 on Comedy Central.

Pete12

Pete13

What a packed stage! So many headlining comedians in one place! Be sure to check out the podcast when it airs HERE at Earwolf and you can subscribe FREE on itunes HERE.

Do This Today: Drunk History

I wrote you an awesome “Do This Today” and for some reason it never posted 😦 And now of course, the event has started. Well lets not dwell on the past, and my technology-failings. Instead lets focus on Funny or Die, because it’s awesome. I know you may have heard of this already, but “Drunk History” is a hilarious collection of videos showing drunk comedians retelling historical events, and then celebrities acting them out. So funny, and there’s many to enjoy, so watch them all!

Comedy Bang Bang (October 9, 2012)

It’s Comedy Wednesday! If you want to go to Comedy Bang Bang, check out THIS website on Friday at noon when tickets go on sale. They sell out almost instantly so get’em if you can, and at $5 a ticket, it’s the best price in town.

Grant Lyon (his website) was this weeks host and I thought he was excellent. Sometimes the hosts seem under prepared or low energy (which could easily be nerves) but he was very prepared and a great start to the night. Check him out and follow him on twitter @grantlyon1.

_________________________________________________________________________

Natasha Leggero (her website) came out next looking lovely as usual. She’s such a fancy comedian. She did a mix of old and new (to me) material. She was also in high spirits, which was nice. I love her on Burning Love, and if you haven’t seen it, click that link! Follow her on twitter @natashaleggero.

_________________________________________________________________________

Andy Ritchie (his website) was up next and was also a “barrel of laughs”. The energy was really high last night and the crowd was loving the show. And as Andy pointed out, it was abortion night at UCB since most of the comedians talked about it. Follow him on twitter @_AndyRitchie.

_________________________________________________________________________

Kumail Nanjiani (his regular show website) was up next. His wife was in the audience, which was fun for me since he’s talked about her before. They look like an adorable, fun couple. Kumail had a cold but was a trooper and did a hilarious set. I would bet that Kumail has never had an “off night”. I’ve seen him perform maybe 30+ times in the last several years and he’s always been hilarious. Follow him on twitter @kumailn.

_________________________________________________________________________

Greg Behrendt  (his website) followed up next. He talked a lot about his family (specifically his daughters) and his dog Waffles. I love when comedians tell true family stories because it helps you get to know them, it makes them more human, and true stories are always the funniest. You can’t make this stuff up!

_________________________________________________________________________

Jay Chandrasekhar (his imdb) came out next. You probably know him best from acting in and directing Super Troopers and Beerfest. I’ve gotten to work with him before on Friends With Benefits (he directed an episode) and I love that he’s a successful director that still loves doing standup. Follow him on twitter @jaychandrasekha.

_________________________________________________________________________

Jenny Slate (her imdb) was last up. You probably know her from SNL (she infamously dropped the f-bomb during her first sketch). She looked adorable last night and revealed she recently got married. She’s so unique and tells incredible childhood stories. She’s very vulgar and not afraid to tell say what she’s thinking. Follow her on twitter @jennyslate25.
