The summer has FLOWN by. Yesterday it was practically 90 degrees all day, and this morning it was so cold I wore a sweater to work…. it’s officially FALL! This has been the season I’m most excited for now that I’m back in New England. I arrived in New Haven in December of 2014, so I experienced a lot of cold, then a very quick spring followed by a very hot summer and now it’s finally fall!
My Fall list has already started; apple picking, pumpkin carving, a visit to Salem MA, etc all made it on there. I’m looking forward to a little fall wardrobe upgrade as I haven’t bought new nice clothes in forever. What gets you excited about fall? Is it the pumpkin spiced lattes?
I continually ache to keep this blog up to date, but my etsy shop has been off the hook. I keep playing with the idea of closing it for a week just to catch up. It’s hard to explore new designs and add to the shop when Im filling orders. The good thing is that the physical store (located in Hamden) is starting to take shape. I’ve also taken up weaving, which has been a great night time stress release. I can put on a movie and at the end I’ve made a decorative wall weaving. HERE‘s a great tutorial. I figure it’ll be good to add some soft items to the shop.
One fun creative project I was commissioned to make is this cedar chest with herringbone pattern. I’m really happy with how it came out and I look forward to developing this as a table top soon… I just need to find the time!!
As for Meyer Wire, I’m still in the process of installing the baseboards. It will look significantly better once I finish this, but I just need a solid few days of being able to knock these out. Im spread a little thin right now, but Im hopefully things will even out, as I make more work boundaries and allow for longer lead times on projects. I did make myself a Honey window sill that I love 🙂 Such a subtle but meaningful upgrade to the office.
I’ve spent a lot of my summer out in Cape Cod enjoying the summer and the perfect weather. I’ve been out there almost every weekend walking the beach looking for sharks (with no luck). We’ve been playing a ton of Settlers of Cattan, and of course eating fried oysters (yum!!). The diet officially starts now that fall is here.
Oscar update: He’s cute as ever and loves stealing my yarn.
