Weekend Guide June 22 + 23 + 24

Happy Friday all! Are you busy this weekend, because there are tons of fun events happening all over Los Angeles. Here are a bunch of goodies to fill up your Fri-Sat-Sun.

FRIDAY June 22

Tonight at 8p Kenny Ortega (choreographer who did Dirty Dancing) will be joining Grand Performances for their first event of the summer, Dirty Dancing Dance-A-Long! Get there at 7:45p for a quick salsa lesson. They will be screening the movie and encouraging dancing, so bring your dancin’ shoes. This whole event is FREE and AWESOME! RSVP on facebook HERE for all the details.

The Lyric Cafe and Theater on Hyperion is playing host to Matty’s Pizza Party. This $5 event is a comedy stand-up show which includes free pizza. Score! I know the jpg above says June 8th, but this is ongoing on Fridays. To see the details specific to tonights show, rsvp on facebook HERE.

I’ve posted about them in past Weekend Guides, and the band Becky Kramer’s Brother is back performing at the Kibitz Room at Canters tonight starting at 10:30p. They’ll be rocking out to your favorite 90’s tunes.

This weekend is the Dwell On Design event. It’s kinda pricy ($15 is the cheapest ticket up to $400) but for all you designers in town, it’s worth a peak. They offer an $85 ticket to do Home Tours. This is where a bus takes you around to different well known (and very well designed) homes. It’s pricy but it’s the only chance us “normies” can see into these famous homes. Check out ticket prices HERE.

Do you watch the tv show Community? I hope you said yes, not just because it rocks but because this weekend Pixel Drip Gallery is hosting an exhibit completely based on the tv show Community. Check out the video above to see some of the artists and learn more about it. It starts at 11am on Saturday and ends on Sunday June 24th at 6pm. Make time for this!

And of course, it’s Saturday night so there are plenty of outdoor movie screenings. Pack up a picnic basket and choose between:

Eat Sea Hear is showing The Big Lebowski at the Santa Monica Memorial Greek Theater. Tickets are $10, get them HERE.

Street Food Cinema is showing Avatar in Exposition Park. Tickets are $10, get them HERE.

Cenespia Forever Cemetery Screening is showing Chinatown. Tickets are $10, reserve them HERE.

SUNDAY June 24

This Sunday Devil’s Night Drive In is showing Donnie Darko at 7:30 (gate), starting at 9p. Get your tickets HERE.

At 9pm on Sunday, Neil Hamberger is back at The Satillite doing comedy. This month he’s bringing Andy Kindler, Jon Daly, and Mike H. Tickets are $8, which is a fantastic price. Get tickets HERE!

This Monday there is a great comedy line-up at Pblic House, so I thought I’d add it as an extra on this weeks Weekend Guide. Continue the weekend into Monday and check out this show. Melgard Public House is going to host Eric Andre and Brent Weinbach in a free show at 9pm. There are tons of other comedians performing and you can read about all the details HERE.
