Sometimes working in Hollywood isn’t so bad. Yesterday there was a tiger on our lot shooting some scenes and it drew many people away from their desks. There was a buzz around the lot, “did you see the tigers?!” and I finally got my peek. It was awesome and adorable. Two pigeons landed near the cage and the tiger went into pounce mode with her front low to the ground and her butt in the air. Pepper (my roommates cat) usually does that right before she bites me. This tiger looked pretty thin but then again this is Hollywood and there is pressure to stay skinny 🙂
Did you go to the Bill Murray art opening at Gallery 1988? How was it? I didn’t get to go because I was at the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax for Patton Oswalt‘s presentation of The Heart, She Hollar which will air as a miniseries on Adult Swim. The miniseries/potentially reoccurring show, stars Patton Oswalt as an almost mute inbred character that has been trapped in a cave since birth only to be let out as he inherits a town. This Southern soap opera spoof also stars Kristin Schaal and Heather Lawless as Patton’s jealous sisters, who felt cheated when their deceased father didn’t leave them the town. The dead father actually plays a big role in show, as he left millions of tapes of himself for his family, each tape labeled for super specific events. For example, Patton’s character has a surprise for the dead dad, so he puts in a tape labeled “I have a surprise”. This show is very “Adult Swim”, so if you are a fan of the network you’ll enjoy it. It’s funny to me that they have Patton, a great comedian who is extremely eloquent with his jokes, and gave him limited dialog forcing him to really rely on his physical comedy. The Q+A/interview portion of last nights event was really fun. Patton really knows how to speak to crowds and also creator Vernon Chatman was part of the dialog.
